Groups of hosting services

A hosting service suggests storing and/or sharing certain web content on a web server handled by a web hosting supplier. There are different types of hosting services used for different goals, so let's take a glimpse at them. Doing so, you can determine what you want, based on whether you desire to build a web portal, email addresses, or to share files with mates and colleagues.

- File hosting: a solution distributed by given vendors, which permits you to share large files. These could be disk images, motion pictures, audio files, archived documents, and so on. This solution is also known as file storage, and its only purpose is to share files, since it does not support website uploading. The moment the files are uploaded, you will either obtain a randomly created download link for each of them, or you will be able to view a list of all the files in a directory, but you will be unable to view .html or .php website files in your web browser. Free-of-charge file storage accounts are frequently supported by showing adverts beside the download links, while a timer obliges you to wait for a specific spell of time to perceive them. A given file can be downloaded with restricted speed. If you run a paid file hosting package, there are no restrictions as to how many files you can upload/download immediately, and also there is no limitation with regard to the download speed or the file size.

Now, with the help of the cPanel hosting wholesalers, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more fashionable "cloud hosting". This is a totally twisted explanation of the real definition of "cloud hosting". A real cloud website hosting system would apportion the tasks at hand between independent stacks of web servers in a cluster, which are devoted to serving different website hosting services (electronic mail, data storage, stats, DNS, databases, site hosting Control Panel, and so on.) So, the file hosting solution is only a variety of a disk space hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: similar to file hosting; specific providers provide a hosting solution for pictures solely. This hosting kind is good if you would like to share a big amount of pics with buddies or partners since the service is usually free of cost. You will obtain a randomly generated link for each and every image or album and you can subsequently share this link. As with the file storage solution, .html and .php files are not compatible, so the solution cannot be used for sites.

- Email hosting: a service committed to managing your mail addresses. Some firms provide web space hosting solutions for web sites, but do not provide an email service. If you would like to own an e-mail address with your domain name but do not desire to possess a site, then the e-mail hosting service is what you want. You can create email accounts and manage them, but there will be no web service for the domains. The email hosting service involves incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP servers.

- Video hosting: this solution allows you to upload and share video files. You can either share a link to a particular video file, or you can embed the video in your site that is hosted elsewhere. The benefit of using this approach in lieu of uploading the video clip in a hosting account is that the video produces a given amount of central processing unit load, so with a few video files and several hundred website visitors, you may have a problem with your hosting quotas. Embedding the video file will allow you to have as many videos as you want without bothering about system reserves.

- Web page hosting: this is the solution that you require if you want to keep a website. To a certain degree, it contains all of the abovementioned hosting sorts since, along with your sites, you can also host pics and files, you can have databases and e-mails, upload video clips, etc. At PhotoIreland Hosting, for instance, you can have a gaze at web hosting and dedicated web server hosting services that allow you to have all of the abovementioned solutions in one single place. There may be limits based on the kind of hosting service that you've selected - a free hosting plan, a paid shared hosting plan, a VPS or a dedicated server. Based on that, your site hosting plan may be better or worse compared with the usual e-mail/file/video/image hosting packages that are intended for specific content solely.
